About
I am currently an Interior Decorating student at Red River College Polytechnic. I was drawn to this field from a young age, as I enjoyed rearranging my friends’ rooms to create spaces that felt both comfortable and reflective of their personalities and what makes them who they are. I believe decorating is more than just aesthetics—it is a form of expression and plays a pivotal role in shaping how individuals feel, function, and connect within their environments.

Interior Design Styles Project
For this assignment, I researched the characteristics and elements of Japandi design style and created a living room based on my findings. After researching my given design style, I created a client profile and had to adhere to the client's needs and requirements. I then created a mood board to visually communicate the design concept and direction for the space. Lastly, I used HomeStyler to create a living room that reflected the Japandi style and design requirements based on the client profile.

Upcycled and Recycled Décor
The goal of this assignment was to design and create functional or decorative home décor items using up-cycled or recycled materials to demonstrate understanding of sustainability, the impact of reducing waste, and the benefits of repurposing materials to create new, functional items. For this assignment, I utilized both practical knowledge, creative problem-solving and research based understanding of sustainability. I turned an old suitcase I had laying around into a pet bed made from sustainable, recyclable, and eco-friendly materials. This assignment gave me a new understanding of what sustainability really means, how important it is, and how to implement it in design wherever and whenever possible.

3-D Modeling Using SketchUp
I effectively utilized my software skills to create and decorate a house using SketchUp. By both following instructions and also using creative freedom, I created a visually appealing and cohesive space and accomplished my given task to create a space and come up with a design that flows well within that space. This assignment has given me a stronger understanding of the software and how to properly follow instruction.

Residential Materials & Finishes Selection
In this assignment, I demonstrated my ability to select materials for a residential space that fits the needs and context of the space, are coordinated, and communicate a clear design style. I created an organized and visually appealing material board that showcases my selected materials for each space. The materials were carefully selected after in-depth research on material performance factors and the clients needs for each space.

Real-World Design and Decorating Solutions
I was tasked with designing an in-store display for a small boutique that highlights retail home décor products and draws customer attention. My display goals were to highlight seasonal items in natural textures and pastel colours, use lighting and signage to draw attention to the feature display, appeal to young professionals, and create a calming, on-trend, and Instagram-worthy display while still guiding foot traffic smoothly through the store. I designed the display with all these goals in mind and created a space that fit them perfectly. I used the software HomeStyler, to create the space and 3D rendered it to give it a realistic look and elevate the visuals.

Designing with Brand Identity
I created a mood board for a small business based on its mission, values, brand traits, and visual identity. Through in-depth research and interviews with leadership, I identified key brand themes and translated them into a cohesive visual design. 3D renderings were also created to show the concept and layout in a realistic context. By applying design principles and elements, I successfully created a mood board that communicates the brand’s identity and serves as a strategic foundation for future design decisions.

Materials in Context
In this assignment, I demonstrated my understanding of material performance, application, comfort, and real-world use. By researching about VOCs, I learned about what it is, what the risks are, and who it affects and is most at risk. To further my understanding and know how to effectively deal with these common health risks, I researched heath certifications and safety ratings that relate to VOCs and suggested safer alternatives. Throughout this assignment I've gained new perspectives and understanding on the danger of VOCs and have learned effective ways to combat using them and the negative affects that come with them.

Resume
My resume highlights previous job experience and academic projects that have equipped me with the skills and knowledge to excel in the field of interior decorating. Through both coursework and project work, I’ve learned how to create cohesive designs, communicate design ideas clearly and present them professionally. Overall, my experience reflects a growing ability to create thoughtful, practical, and visually appealing interior spaces.
